Emergency Vet: Offering Complete Care To Your Beloved Vet

Like humans, your pet may also require an urgent treatment in case of any unusual incident which hurts him physically. This is realized recently when I had to take my beloved puppy early morning to a veterinarian near my home. It was couple of months back when during weekend we went out with our pet for a long drive and as my dog has habit of keeping his face out of window to enjoy the cool breeze and watching commuters he got something inhaled in his eye. As we did not notice any change or sign of pain or uneasiness on his face we did not pay any attention towards him and went directly into our bed for sleeping.

But, next morning had something unfortunate written something unbearable and terrible for us, and only some pet lover can understand my situation. What will be your reaction if you early morning when you see the swelling on the eye of your dog, completely covering his eye and drops of blood coming from his eye? Obviously, without wasting a second you will rush to the veterinarian that is close to your home to get him treated at the earliest. Thank to God, we do not have to struggle much in searching for an emergency vet in our locality to get my dog treated on time.

Anyhow, the above mentioned incidence is just an illustration when pet lovers like me and you might feel the need of some urgent veterinarian to get rid of our beloved pets. There are various reasons when you might require their services for instance, if while going out with you for buying any grocery item at the walking distance of your home he might get injured by some vehicle, he might swallow something which obstacles his breathing vein, he might have eaten something unnatural which he starts vomiting restlessly etc.

As a general practice all veterinary clinics are open during the specific hours of the day, but interestingly there are lots of clinics who have staff that work throughout the day in shifts. Moving ahead with these clinics … Read the rest

Cleaning Your House With Pets

Today let’s talk a little about keeping your house clean with pets. Okay, okay this is not the fun thing to always talk about, but I’m sure it’s a daily struggle for all of us pet owners. Constant shedding from almost every kind of dog and cat is bound to happen. From the day you welcome a new puppy or kitten into your home you know the task of keeping up after them is there.

Pets

Living in town and a yard that wasn’t fenced in I already knew that I wasn’t going to have an outdoor dog. She was indoor and had free reign with most of the house, aside from the spare bedrooms. I watched her like a hawk when I brought her home and for the first two days I was pretty good at reading her signs as to when she needed to go out. But I wasn’t always fast enough. There were the few accidents that of course I was pretty diligent at cleaning up right away and making sure to spray the carpet or hard wood to deter her from going there again.

As the days, weeks and months go by your puppy will be getting better at letting you know when they need to go out and just about the time you think you have a handle on it, BAM… the poor thing gets sick. Either with a new food change or something that is causing your poor pet digestive issues, you now have another clean up situation. Whether that means a carpet spray or hardwood cleaning or it entails the full body suit clothes pin on the nose and rubber gloves to your elbows, it’s gotta get cleaned up. Then there is the smell to contend with.

Finding the solution to work in your home to control the smell and cleaning can be hard. Here are a few things I do that seem to help a lot.

Spot Scrub.

Wherever the scene of the crime is I start with spot scrubbing. Odor killing and stain removal for pets are the two biggest things I … Read the rest

Factors to Consider in Buying Pet Accessories

It is fun to shop for pet accessories and even more exciting to take home to your little furry pets and feathered family members. Whenever you look for the best and functional toys for your pet, keep in mind that prices and brands are not necessarily that important when it comes to pet accessories – unlike with regard to electronics or other products. Rather than being concerned with the popularity of the brand, check out the designs and materials that are not harmful and dangerous. A number of things to think about when inspecting the shelves are as follows:

Pets

Physical Stability

No one can really be so sure if a particular bird branch or cat tree is safe, so inspect it carefully to help in your decision. Large accessories – like carpeted trees and scratching posts – need to be heavy and strong enough to keep them from falling over when your pet cat climbs and plays. Though cute domed beds look perfect for your puppy or kitten, they may tip over or trap your pet. When you are in doubt, check consumer reviews.

Swallowing and Inhaling Dangers

Even if toys with ribbons seem to be fun and adorable, many dogs and cats are fond of eating string. So, when thinking of buying toys that have long, dangling parts, see to it that these are strongly attached and will not easily tear apart. Also, ensure that the toy does not have small pieces that can be easily swallowed, since these are often made from plastic and other materials that are not edible. Some accessories like catnip essences and bird mite protectors give off fumes that are too strong for your small pet. Always stay away from fume-based applications, except if they are approved by your veterinarian.

Hazardous chemicals

Many pet stores contain a big pet care section where owners can buy things like flea and tick spray and dog vitamins. While buying any of these items may seem like a good idea, this may not be the case. As a matter of fact, numerous dogs and cats become sick due … Read the rest
