Chinchilla – Pets on Company
Chinchilla is a rodent animals belonging to the family Chinchiliade. It grows as a pet because it is a very clean animal, not specific odors emanating, eats only vegetable feed. Chinchilla has a bushy tail, mouse ears, can be likened to a cross between rabbit and squirrel.
Chinchilla originated near Peru, Chile, Bolivia, South American Andes, living at an altitude of 2500m, in a rocky area with little vegetation.
Battery life is 10-15 years chinchilla, 500-600g weight, gestation is 111 days, 4 incisors and 16 molars (20 teeth). Three species are widespread chinchilla:
- Chinchilla langiera
- Chinchilla brevicaudata
- Royal Chinchilla
Of all species, is the most common langier chinchilla.
Chinchilla is generally active at night, but the day may have moments of activity. They are not noisy, are fast, very agile, curious and full of energy. The space in which we place Chinchilla cage should be cleaned with a temperature between 14-20 degrees C. It is preferable that there should not have air currents or rapid temperature variations. Chinchilla cage must be large enough because the metal and Chinchilla likes to chew on and to cling to the walls of the cage. On the bottom of the cage must have a tray that can be removed to allow a quick cleaning.
Chinchilla cage must be a sand box. Chinchilla a bath in this special sand to remove excess sebum. This box is inserted at least 2 times a week and takes 15-30 minutes in the cage.
